See list attachedOctober 25, 196868-PA-T-237APA/Chief, Apollo Data Priority CoordinationX-axis or z-axis for LM TPI?
This memo is in response to a question that came up at the October 21 D Rendezvous Mission Techniques meeting. The question was: What is the additional LM RCS propellant cost if we use the z-axis RCS translation rather than the x-axis for TPI? Chuck Pace checked with the MPAD Consumable people who figured the x-axis would cost about 15 lbs. (taking into account the required attitude changes and use of the APS interconnect) and the z-axis will use at least 31 lbs. of RCS propellant (assuming the best CG location). These numbers are based on current spacecraft data book information. They intend to verify them through use of a 6D simula- tion program in the near future and will document the results.
In the meantime, we can probably use these estimates to decide which to use – x-axis which costs less RCS or z-axis which avoids breaking radar lock on.
