PA/Manager, Apollo Spacecraft ProgramAUG 1 196868-PA-T-182APA/Chief, Apollo Data Priority CoordinationNorth-American Rockwell (NR) participation in Mission Techniques Activity
This note is to let you know that NR participation in the Mission Techniques activity is almost negligible. (Except reentry – Bobby Johnson's team working on the EMS is outstanding.)
We have many internal meetings here at MSC; I'm not referring to these, but rather to the much less frequent big meetings, well attended by MIT and (recently) by GAEC. It is at these meetings that a great many details are resolved involving crew procedures and their interface with the ground, etc. Knowledge of much of this must be essential to prepare useful AOH's and to conduct meaningful simulations – and, NR input might be useful too!
I realize there is a budget squeeze damping travel, of course. I wanted to make sure you were aware of this situation so that proper priority could be assigned – if it isn't – to NR management. Frankly, I don't see how they could possibly know what's going on!
